Restoring Foster Tractor 14378 IRON DUKE

Foster Tractor 14378 PP7306 “Iron Duke” was sold new to High Wycombe Chair Co and then later past onto HD Knight & Family into preservation. It was during this period that the engine started to attend the Bedford Steam Rallies. It is believed to be the only remaining steam engine still attending the Societies Rally today that also attended the first rally at Woburn Park in 1957.
It is now in the ownership of the Smith Family and has recently undergone a full restoration as seen in the photos below.
The Engine was stripped down to the boiler and rebuilt replacing any parts that were to far corroded or worn out. It was then repainted and lined.

You would be forgiven for thinking that the two young lads in this photo were the sons of the current owner.
This was in fact taken in 1957 at Woburn Park with the two Knight Sons on board.
The similarity is uncanny !
